Kay Lynn Renfro
Kay Lynn Renfro is the proud director of the Grapevine High School Fabulous Fillies Dance Team. She has been serving as director of the Fillies since 1985. Under Mrs. Renfro’s direction the Fillies have received multiple national titles in Pom, Modern, Hip Hop, Military, Prop, Lyrical, and Jazz. In 2006 and 2008, the Fillies were awarded the presitigious M.A. Dance Champion Jackets for winning the Super Large Division at the M.A. Dance National Competition. She has served as an officer for Dance/Drill Team Directors of America (DTDA) and Texas Dance Educator’s Association (TDEA) and has conducted professional training seminars for both DTDA and TDEA. Mrs. Renfro has also served as DTDA’s National Dance Team Director in 1995 and as TDEA’s All State Dance Team Director in 2001 & 2002. She has been serving as a competition level adjudicator for Marching Auxiliaries/M.A. Dance.
Ms Renfro was recently honored at the 2009 Texas Dance Educators Association Convention as recipient of the TDEA Lifetime Achievement Award. Annual recipients of the Lifetime Achievement award are nominated by their peers and selected by the TDEA Awards Committee in honor of their obvious dedication to their profession and in recognition of their true dedication toward the advancement of dance/drill team.
Mrs. Renfro is a 1984 graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Secondary Certification in English. She received her classical ballet training under Frank and Irena Pal, and has completed 15 hours toward her Master of Arts degree in Dance at Texas Woman’s University. Kay Lynn is a Kappa Alpha Theta alumni. She is married to Dallas Renfro, and has two daughters, Kathryn and Laura. Her greatest challenge to date has been serving as Fillie Director, Fillie Mom, Fillie Officer Mom, and Fillie Booster Club member to Kathryn, and CTMS Dance Team booster mom to Laura during the past two years. She is an ardent supporter of all that is GRAPEVINE HIGH SCHOOL -- "...to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."
